This web site has been created to help the audio enthusiast gather information about these products and includes links to the manufacturers’ web sites. There is no substitute however for contacting one of our selected dealers and auditioning the equipment for yourself.

Philosophy

Audio Reference was founded in 1996 by Martin Brewster, an audio enthusiast and musician for 35 years. The joy and emotion that music brings has fuelled an insatiable search for resolution, timbral accuracy and above all ‘A natural and believable musicality’ in the rendering of the recorded sound.

This experience, together with travelling to many audio exhibitions and listening carefully to the way the music was presented, has formed the basis of the equipment selected from some of the world’s most respected manufacturers.

We present to the audio enthusiast a portfolio of some of the world's finest audio equipment, at a variety of price levels.

We are always happy to offer a view but the way in which equipment reproduces music is a very subjective matter. We know that we all hear music in a slightly different way and have our own preferences. Therefore we cannot offer ‘the definitive solution’ that will please everyone. We always recommend that enthusiasts audition equipment in their own listening environment, to realise personal musical expectations and attain their preferred interpretation.
